To Dean, Kevin & the team behind LM2
Now that this thread has gone quiet and the majority of you have posted your comments on LM2, I thought it was time that I acknowledged the time and effort put
in by everyone concerned.
Dean and Kev have been actively keeping everyone aware of all the developments and stages the CD went through,
but as I have no tech know how, I've basically kept off posting on the subject, but as I was instrumental in
starting the ball rolling, I wanted my thoughts and feelings documented here.
When I approached Dean in the early part of 2007 about helping fund LM2, I was certainly not aware of all the different aspects of the procedure and how long
it would eventually take and the annoying way nothing seems to go the way you plan it! He never lost sight of the projects boundaries both financially and
My sincere thanks go to him for all his honesty, his friendship and being up front about all that happened
throughout the project (the good, the bad), for his unparalleled passion for the group and it's songs, his enthusiasm and loyalty to the cause which as we
now know nearly was his downfall, with his health problems. His creative and technical processes were so valuable and so worthwhile, to each and every song
that was uncovered.
Big thanks to Kevin, for his continued critical awareness of every song and each and every version…you thought all the different versions of New Beginning was
bad enough but Keep Each Other Warm is just as numerous in its versions and it just amazed me how enthusiastic he was even if it was only a slight key change
from one version to another. His technical brilliance in all of the remastering cannot be underestimated. He too has the same passion as Dean and together they make a very professional team.
Also a big thank you to Kev & his partner 'H' for making me most welcome in their home, for feeding me and allowing me to stay over whenever the
need arose. I thank them both for their kindness and friendship and I'm hoping to extend that courtesy to them when they along with Dean take up my invite
to visit here.
I have still yet to meet any of the group, but they are busy people with busy lives and being here on Jersey I can't just drop everything and head up a
motorway or jump on a train to go and see them perform, but maybe in a way it keeps the awe and mystery surrounding my relationship with them since SFE 81
fully in tact, they all have a part to play for me, Cheryl, Mike, Bobby, Jay & Shelley, they brought me many thousand of hours of enjoyment on CD and TV
and will continue to do so.
I'm glad that the majority of you, the fans, have liked and appreciated the content of LM2, it would have been an awful waste of time and resources if it
had not been the case, I know it could never replace a brand spanking new CD of new songs by the group, but I'm guessing it's the closest
"new" thing we're ever likely to see.
I love the finished version of LM2, the fact that it has my name on it is just sublime and something I thought I would never achieve, but it was only down to a
small inheritance I was left by my late auntie Gwen that made it all possible and I know she would have approved of how I utilised a portion on something that
will last for years and has given and will keep on giving pleasure to a whole group of people, most of whom I'll never meet. Some of you may disagree, we are all allowed our opinions, but that is not up for discussion!
So, a heart-felt thank you to those above and all the rest of the team, Stephen, Andy, Alan etc for allowing me a mere fan to become fully involved with the
whole process of making LM2, asking for my advice and input on track selection, running order and even using my ideas on Golden Days ext mix (my proudest
moment) and making it into the cracker of a 12 inch that was just asking to be done.
My respect and admiration to all on this forum, who continue to be passionate and
enthuse about a pop group from the 80's that refuses to lie down and still gives us, the fans, such a wonderful legacy of songs. It's an
Invisible thread that ultimately links us, they call it Bucks Fizz!
